Because your activity level will be restricted for the first 4-6 weeks you’ll want to arrange for assistance during this time. You’ll be provided with a list of do’s and don’ts to be aware of the day and night before your surgery (eating wise).
Day of Surgery
Before surgery you’ll meet your Anesthesiologist, see Dr. Griner and meet your operative Nurse. This is a good opportunity to ask any last minute questions. Your surgery may be anywhere from four to eight hours. If you have family or friends in the waiting room they will be updated regarding progress.
Typically 6 – 8 weeks is the recovery time before it’s recommended to return to regular activities. Soreness is likely to be experienced for one to two weeks after implant surgery and longer after flap procedures. You’ll be given medicines to help control the pain and discomfort.
